The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) offer educators a framework for their scholars to better understand global issues and to engage as problem solvers. This hands-on workshop will offer educators the opportunity to explore resources to enhance and support teaching the SDGs.
This comprehensive workshop experience includes our three Integrating World Savvy workshops this month: Introduction to Global Competence (June 1), Case Study Protocol (June 8), and Knowledge to Action (June 15), followed by two 30-minute individual sessions where a World Savvy Professional Learning Facilitator will coach to implement concepts and strategies introduced in the series.
World Savvy, in partnership with the California Global Education Project and Marin Country Office of Education, is proud to host Teaching with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a one-day workshop for educators.
The workshop will focus on SDG #11: Sustainable Communities and offer teachers a framework for their students to better understand how to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.
This hands-on workshop will offer teachers the opportunity to learn from and dialogue with experts in the field, explore resources to enhance and support their teaching of SDG #11, engage with colleagues, and begin building meaningful student learning experiences.
In this two-day workshop participants will be introduced to World Savvy’s Educational Approach through hands-on learning experiences. Educators will explore Global Competence and its importance in the classroom, school, and society. The World Savvy Case Study Approach, an inquiry-based protocol for building background knowledge on significant global issues will be experienced, as well as the Knowledge to Action design process where educators will use a design thinking methodology to arrive at a solution to a local issue. World Savvy’s suite of resources will be shared with participants as they frame student learning experiences. Opportunities for reflection, debrief and an open exchange of ideas and practice will occur throughout the two days.
