The health and wellbeing of World Savvy Festival scholars, educators, and volunteers is our top priority. Due to the growing concern around the coronavirus (COVID-19), and in alignment with the best practices laid out by the CDC, WHO and other relevant entities, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Minnesota World Savvy Festival 2020, which was scheduled to take place on April 21 at Base Camp.
Part pep rally, part global summit, the World Savvy Festival is an annual culminating event for middle and high school students participating in the World Savvy Classrooms program. The day-long event brings students from different schools together to share and get feedback on their research and action plans to address global and local issues. Students also engage with each other through a mini design challenge.
World Savvy is excited to be hosting Teaching with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a one-day workshop for educators!
This workshop will provide a framework of supporting students in understanding global issues, with a specific emphasis on SDG #5 Gender Equality. Understanding the multiple forms of inequalities in our world will be the focus of this workshop, to include analysis of the specific causes and impacts of gender inequalities and how these live out across the globe. Participants will examine global perspectives on gender equality using World Savvy’s case study on India’s Female Workforce and also make local connections through a panel discussion representing diverse local perspectives relating to gender equality. Additionally, educators will discover relevant tools and resources that support the integration of the SDGs into student learning experiences.
